Ruth Lucille Dibuono, 97, of East Peoria peacefully went to her heavenly home on May 8, 2017. She had been a resident at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria for the past 2 years.
Born February 17, 1920, in La Prairie Center, IL to Harry and Ethel (Gapen) Stowell, Ruth had two sisters, June (Swede) Adolphson and Betty (Earl) Wynn, who preceded her in death. She married Richard J. Mrazek on October 11, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1979. They raised two daughters, Barbara (Will) Vrba of Algonquin, IL and Gloria...

Ruth Lucille Dibuono, 97, of East Peoria peacefully went to her heavenly home on May 8, 2017. She had been a resident at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria for the past 2 years.
Born February 17, 1920, in La Prairie Center, IL to Harry and Ethel (Gapen) Stowell, Ruth had two sisters, June (Swede) Adolphson and Betty (Earl) Wynn, who preceded her in death. She married Richard J. Mrazek on October 11, 1941. He preceded her in death in 1979. They raised two daughters, Barbara (Will) Vrba of Algonquin, IL and Gloria (Jim) Alcorn of East Peoria. Ruth has four grandchildren: Tracey (Tim) Kelley, Travis (Jenn) Vrba, Jamie (Brian) Quinn, Jodee (Chris) Farmer. Ruth loved seeing her nine great-grandchildren: Nolan, Brannon, and Kaelin Kelley; Taylor and Jacob Vrba; Jayden and Jarek Quinn; and Bailie and Braxton Farmer. Ruth married and was soon widowed by her second husband, Peter Dibuono. She had two step-daughters Paula (Rick) Linthicum and JoAnn (Steve) Miller. She was also preceded in death by a long- time companion and friend, Harold Behrends. Together they enjoyed retirement life in Florida for many years.
Ruth graduated from Lacon High School and worked at Pabst Bottling Plant during WW II. She was a homemaker and later worked for Thompson Food Basket in the produce department. She was active with her children in Girl Scouts and as a 4-H leader. Lucille loved to dance and listen to big band music. Her other past times included golfing with the Hillcrest Ladies League, crafts of all kinds, sewing for her children, gardening in her yard and bingo wherever she could find it. "Lucy" enjoyed traveling to Florida during the winter months and later became a permanent resident in Largo, Florida.
A celebration of life/visitation at 9 AM, followed by a funeral service at 11 AM, will be at East Peoria First United Methodist Church on Monday, May 15, 2017. Pastor Mary Arnold will officiate. Remmert Funeral Home is entrusted with cremation arrangements. Burial will be at Fondulac Township Cemetery, East Peoria.
